Allegedly, it was his better half, Sunita, who saw her in an auto advertisement with Ranbir Kapoor and felt she would be perfect for the part in the historic film.

Pooja Hegde will make her debut in the film industry with this large scale film titled "Mohenjo Daro". She got chosen for the factors like right mix of purity, beauty, dignity and grace that her character in the film demanded, says it's co-producer.

Written, directed and produced by movie producer Ashutosh Gowariker, the epic romantic adventure is set in the city of Mohenjo Daro in the period of the Indus Valley civilisation which goes back to 2600 BC.

Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker production, "Mohenjo Daro" is planned to release on August 12 this year.

“Ashutosh has always looked at casting new faces as the female lead when he has wanted someone to completely embody the character without any previous image attached to the actor themselves,” Sunita said while expressing her feelings.

She added by saying: “That is why he cast Gracy for ‘Lagaan’ and Gayatri in ‘Swades’. We wanted a new face for ‘Mohenjo Daro’ to play the chosen one — Chaani, for the same reason. We locked on Pooja as we realised that she had that right combination of innocence, grace, dignity and strength that the character of Chaani has.”

The film is set in 2016 BC in the antiquated city of Mohenjo-daro in the period of the Indus Valley civilisation. The film is around a man who falls in love with his foe's little girl who is a dancer. Centered on sentiment through the way of life and old civilizations of Mohenjo-daro, Gowariker required three years to build up the film with the assistance of archaeologists who reported the revelation of Indus Valley civilization. The film was shot in Bhuj and Mumbai with short schedules held in Jabalpur and Thane.

The trailer of the movie is already out, also, is stunning in its scale and quality. By the creators of "Lagaan" and 'Jodhaa Akbar' what less would we be able to have expected than an artful culmination! Set in the womb of time, before the introduction of Buddha or Christ or even India as it is presently seen.
